Visitors to Castle Acre are entranced by the special atmosphere of this medieval walled town which lies within the outer bailey of an 11th-century castle. Castle Acre is on the Peddars Way, an ancient track now a long distance path. The Old Red Lion, a former pub, is centrally situated and carries on the tradition of serving travellers who seek refreshment and repose. Guests can stay in private rooms or dormitories, where bedding and linen are provided free of charge. There are quiet areas (with wood burning stoves) for reading, meeting other guests and playing. There are two large areas and studio space (one with kitchen and toilet) which are ideal for group use, courses and retreats. Sole occupancy of entire premises may be hired; rates negotiable. Drying facilities. Good local shops, pubs etc. Tourism concern supporter. No smoking.
