This small friendly hostel was upgraded for 2006. Although now privately run, it is affiliated to the SYHA and a member of VisitScotland (4 Stars). Set in the small scenic village of Helmsdale, halfway between Inverness and John O'Groats, it is ideal for cycling, coastal walks, hill walks and birdwatching. Backpackers, birdwatchers and families are welcome. Accommodation (all with en-suite showers):1 female dorm with 8-10 beds. 1 male dorm with 8-10 beds. 2 family bedrooms (sleep 4) with a double bed and bunks. FACILITIES Bed linen provided, towel hire available, fully equipped kitchen, large dining area, comfortable lounge area, solid fuel heating, drying cupboard, internet access, cycle shed, garden / barbecue area. 4 star Scottish Tourist Board graded.
