Slack House Farm is a working, organic dairy farm situated above Gilsland and the Irthing Valley, overlooking Birdoswald Roman Fort on Hadrian's Wall. On the National cycle route 72 and 0.5km from the Hadrian's Wall National Trail. The bunk and camping barn is in the original stone barn and stables adjacent to The Scypen Organic, Fairtrade, licensed cafe and farm shop and the Birdoswald cheese dairy. On the first floor there is a camping loft (10 Mats provided, bring a sleeping bag) and 5 bedded bunk room (bedding provided). On the ground floor a 3 bedded family room (child's bed and travel cot available) with less-able access. A shower, toilet, hot and cold water, heated towel rail and electric lighting in all rooms. The ground floor has wood-fired, under-floor heating. There is a laundry and drying facility, separate sitting and eating area with wood pellet stove, kettle microwave oven, toaster, fridge,crockery and cutlery. Cooked breakfasts,farmhouse suppers, DIY continental breakfasts and packed lunches may be booked in advance.
