Northumberland, Borders

48 km / 30 miles
The Path crosses farmland and cliff tops as it passes through Burnmouth, Eyemouth and St Abbs. Some of the cliff walking is very exposed and reaches a maximum height of 340ft. A short extension to the route can be gained by taking advantage of the paths of the National Nature Reserve of St Abbs Head. There is also a short spur from St Abbs Head into Coldingham, which can be joined from Coldingham Bay.

UPDATE September 2022: After reports of safety issues with the cliff path near Meg's Dub (where it is squeezed between the cliff and the railway line) several people have reported no special issues beyond the normal ones with cliff edge routes. However, others have confirmed that the path has been re-routed inland between Cockburnspath and St Abbs Head, so this stretch no longer follows the cliff edge. Our GPX and other track files have been amended accordingly. Thanks to the many people who responded to requests to confirm these issues by walking the path.
