Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire

196 km / 122 miles
From Prestatyn this circular route, first developed by North Wales Ramblers and created to celebrate the Millennium, takes the Clwydian Range south to Llangollen intertwining with Offa's Dyke Path National Trail, and then turns west along the Llantysilio Range to Corwen through some of North Wales' finest countryside. The return to the start is via Clocaenog Forest and Llyn Brenig. En route the walker is taken to the historic towns of Llangollen, Corwen, Ruthin (nearby), St. Asaph and Rhuddlan (nearby). Prestatyn is well served by bus and rail connections. The walk links with the North Wales Path and the Mynydd Hiraethog & Denbigh Moors Footpath amongst others. It is waymarked and on public rights of way and now named on OS maps.

The area is a haven for wildlife with many bird species and in particular ravens, Red and Black Grouse and buzzards. These birds of prey have made a comeback in the area and can be seen soaring high in the sky. Foxes, otters and, at dusk, badgers can sometimes be observed in their natural habitat.

From Llyn Brenig, an alternative more northerly moorland route up over the Mynydd Hiraethog and through Llansannan has spectacular views of the mountains of Snowdonia, returning to the main route via Denbigh. Walkers with less time can use link paths providing three circuits: South 88 miles, West 54 miles and North 42 miles.
