Staffordshire, W Midlands

14 km / 9 miles
A circular walk in the Forest of Mercia area north of Walsall and south of the M6 (Toll) through and around historic Pelsall and the adjacent countryside including the Pelsall North Common (Wood Common) nature reserve. It heads to Wyreley and Wyerley Common and includes towpath sections on the Wyreley and Essington canal and on the Cannock Extension canal. It links to the Beacon Way. There are good bus links to central Birmingham.

The Forest of Mercia in southern Staffordshire and Walsall is one of twelve government-backed Community Forests creating well-wooded landscapes for wildlife, work, recreation and education around some of England's major towns and cities. It comprises patchworks of woods and rural landscapes rather than continuous forest. Timberland, a footwear company, helped fund trails in each forest.
