Lon Eifion

Gwynedd

19 km / 12 miles
A scenic mainly hard-surfaced path, along the track of a former railway. It skirts the western edge of the Snowdonia massif with good views of the Nantlle ridge and, near Penygroes, a more distant glimpse of Snowdon itself. The northern half of the path passes close to several villages: Bontnewydd, Dinas, Groeslon and Penygroes. Lon Eifion is part of Lon Las Cymru, route number 8 on the National Cycle Network, shown on OS maps. It starts at the busy historical town of Caernarfon and goes south to the rural village of Bryncir. The route is partially coincident from Caernarfon to Dinas station with the narrow guage Welsh Highland Railway.
