Templer Way

Devon

29 km / 18 miles
Named after the Templer family who constructed the Stover Canal and Tramway to bring granite quarried at Haytor on Dartmoor to the coast at Teignmouth, the Way provides interest for ecological reasons as well as for the locks and buildings. The terrain ranges from open moor to woodland and estuary foreshore. The Way connects to the South West Coast Path having the ferry between Shaldon and Teignmouth in common.
From the Devon County Council download below, the section between Newton Abbot Town Quay to Teignmouth follows the Teign Estuary shore and should only be walked within two hours either side of low tide. To check tide times visit easytide.ukho.gov.uk.
