Les Maple 2006
This handy pocket-size guidebook divides the 120 mile trail into 12 sections, ranging from 7 1/2 to 13 miles, each starting and finishing at places with easy road access and, where possible, convenient for refreshments or accommodation. This makes it ideal for "those wanting to select just one day's walking in the area", but the format also lends itself to anyone wishing to combine sections and complete the trail in one go over a few days. Each section includes a detailed sketch map, taken from OS 1:25,000 scale maps, and a route description (each of which has been checked on the ground during 2006). The information is beautifully presented by the author (who also devised the route) hand-written throughout in an extremely legible script, and with numerous illustrations of views and features along the trail.
