We are delighted to confirm that a new LDWA regional group, North West Grampian, is now set up and ready to take associate and primary members.
Centred on the Moray Region of Scotland, but stretching across to take in Inverness and the northern part of the Great Glen, the new group’s territory has some fantastic wildlife (including Ospreys), more whisky distilleries than you could shake a walking pole at, and some excellent walking, including 2 National Trails (The Speyside Way, and the Great Glen Way- northern portion), plus the Moray Coastal path and the Dava Way. The group will also support the Moray Walking Festival in June each year which includes the Moray Way five day challenge (a lightly supported 95 miles in 5 days).
Their website is now up and running here: https://www.ldwa.org.uk/NorthWestGrampian with their walk programme (which will be published in December Strider) here: https://www.ldwa.org.uk/NorthWestGrampian/E/0/future-events.html
If you wish to select North West Grampian LDWA group as an associate group you can do so by following these guidelines:
1. When logged on as a member, hover your cursor over ‘members’ then click on ‘view/edit your details’ in the drop down list that appears.
2. A page headed ‘View Membership details’ will open. Go down to ‘Local Group Memberships’ and click on ‘(edit)’ next to that heading.
3. A list of the LDWA groups appears. To choose North West Grampian as an associate group click on the checkbox next to North West Grampian to tick it, select any other associate groups as you wish in the same way, then click on ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page.
Should you want to choose North West Grampian as your primary group follow steps 1 and 2 but then click on the down arrow to the right of the box ‘Local Group’ and select North West Grampian. Then click on ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page.
Alternatively e mail Steph Carter at membership@ldwa.org.uk, and ask him to set up North West Grampian as an associate group for you.
We wish North West Grampian every success, and hope members will enjoy walking with them whenever they are in their area.
