Wooler makes an ideal base from which to explore the foothills of the Cheviots, Dunstanburgh Castle and Holy Island. Keen walkers will want to sample St Cuthbert’s Way and the Ravenber long-distance walks that pass through the town, while cyclists can ride part of the 200-mile Steel Bonnet cycle route. Weather permitting, a boat trip to the Farne Islands will keep birdwatchers smiling.
