Last Sunday I joined South Pennine Group on an excellent walk on sunny Bleaklow in the Peak District. On the climb up the Pennine Way from from Crowden YH we met Patrick Fleming, a Wessex LDWA member, who was on day 49 of an unsupported John O'Groats to Lands End walk. His route uses around 25 long distance paths and is 1600 miles in total, which he plans to complete in 80 days with no rest days. He told us that he had prebooked all 80 nights accommodation before starting the walk. No pressure then!
Interestingly he carried no maps but had the entire route on his Garmin Oregon GPS, which he said was working very well. More details of his walk on
