Discussion Forum - Events - Special Dietary requirements and long distance challenge events

Hi. I am taking part in this years Camel Teign 100 and this is my first 100 event since Northumbria in 2006. Over the last couple of years I have had to follow a specialist diet, which is very similar to a Celiac. This makes entering challenge events even more challenging than usual as you really have to be self sufficient to ensure the correct food intake to help you through the miles. However on one or two events the organisers have been brilliant and bent over backwards to help out, most recently being this years Woldsman, they were fantastic.
The reason for this post is I would like to hear from anyone who suffers in the same way and has completed any 100 events or any long distance events. Unfortunately the organisers of this 100 will only transport food that an individual has prepared, this I find very difficult to get to grips with because any food prepared 3-4 days in advance would be inedible by the time it is required especially day two at the later check points, and as you know any pre-packed foods are very limiting.
If you can give me any advice on how you have managed this situation I would love to hear from you. Please do not answer to this post could I ask that you contact me directly on chrismcgully@hotmail.com

Many thanks. Chris McDowell, Northumbria Group Secretary
