I have been reminded that another advantage of the diverted route is that (if it is really, really hot) the Scott Arms at Kingston (after the Swyre Head carpark CP) serves a variety of refreshments, to suit all tastes. Or so the marshals told me....

The Marshals Walk (last Sunday) took place in brilliant sunshine, with lots of wild flowers on the route, and amazing views over Dorset from the high level coast path diversion after Kimmeridge.

The event will be a bit different from previous years. This is because recent cliff falls have taken out several sections of the South Western Coast Path, and it cannot be repaired or re-aligned before the event

As a result, the route will be diverted slightly inland* in a few places to use the upper ridge path. The diversions increase the total distance by about a mile, but it also reduce the total ascent slightly. However, a positive outcome is that the views from the diversions are panoramic. There will also be some changes to the locations of the checkpoints.
