Discussion Forum - Long Distance Paths - The Cumberland Way

I've just found a second hand copy of the Cumberland Way guide, and it looks a really nice walk. I see it is called an old route, no longer classified as an ldw, though one or two walking tour companies still offer it. What makes something an old route, and how much difference does it make to actually walking it? Has anyone done it recently, are there likely to be any difficulties, other than the assumption that if there were waymarkers they will have long fallen over? Any info gratefully received.
