...and further to that, the plans to organise the Taith Torfaen are already quite advanced.

The event will be based on West Monmouth School in Pontypool (HQ for Valleys 100) and will be a figure of eight walk.
We have reccied the northern loop and work begins on the southern loop (which will also be the second loop) this month. It's looking like the distance will be:

North Loop = 25.9 miles with 4341 ft climbing.
South Loop = 26 miles with 5393 ft climbing.

So, a total of 52 miles and 9734 ft climbing.

All village halls that will be used for inside checkpoints have been booked and the event will be held on 9th April 2016.

The Taith Torfaen is the South Wales LDWA's very own 'Anytime Challenge' walk. However, the northern loop has been adapted to make it more 'challenge friendly'. The southern loop will be more or less the same route that we currently follow all be it with a couple of minor diversions to assist local home owners.

If you're interested in reading about the 'Anytime Challenge' then please go to:

Once we've completed our costings, the event will be advertised and on-line entries will be available via SI.

As you may know, Dorset is hosting the annual 100 mile event in 2016. This should also be the year when we run the Dorset Giant, the third leg of the SW Triple, usually held in April. We took a decision that we would not be able to plan and run the Giant as well as prepare for the 100.

We are now very pleased to let everyone know that the South Wales group have stepped into the breach. They will put on a 50 mile event called the Taith Torfaen, which will for 2016 form the third leg of the SW Triple.
