Correction: not weekly but *daily* for four days *this* week starting Monday 27th July.

It's 19:30 BBC2 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th July.

Sorry for my mistake.

Currently being repeated.

BBC2 on Mondays at 19:30 from 27th July and for three editions thereafter.

Also on iPlayer for four weeks following each episode.

Worth it if you missed it first time round. Presenter (Paul Rose) doesn't gloss or exaggerate it.

Nice to see Joyce & Colin Taylor, proprietors of the Forest View Inn in Byrness, featured in the last episode of the series. I had stayed with them for a couple of nights earlier in the week. They are real supporters of walkers on the Pennine Way. Joyce's cooking is excellent, they have a small bar stocked with an interesting selection of local real ales, and Colin really does clean and dry your boots overnight. They operate a "taxi" service collecting you from below Windy Gyle and returning you there the next morning to split up that long final Cheviot section. Almost 60 miles driving in total and all included in a very reasonable D, B & B cost. Highly recommended.

A four-episode series commemorating the 50th anniversary of the opening of what was claimed to be the UK's toughest LDP/NT started today April 10th on BBC1* at 7.30. Paul Rose walk(ed) the route and recounts changes since 1965.

Episode one included a visit to Heponstall (not on the Trail, as he called it) and the non National Park status of the South Pennines. It's on iPlayer for 29 days.

* Yorks & Lincs, North East & Cumbria, North West, Yorkshire only.

Next episode probably same time April 17th.
