Yes, BRILLIANT walk - thanks Aaron - yet again you came up trumps with a lovely walk (albeit a bit wet at times). And the moonlit stride up the canal and back at the end was a great way to finish.
Hilary, please don't feel responsible! I always spend at least some of every walk over 40miles, on my derrière...!!

Well, that was brilliant. Thanks everyone, for the company, and Aaron for setting it up for us and navigating us along a lovely route. The Propa Pie Shop in Crowle and the No 1 Teapot Café in Epworth were particular highlights. I may dream about mud and lake-like puddles for some time to come. And that last stretch alongside the canal. Set off back to London from Thorne, had to pull into the first motorway stop for tea, bacon buttie and a couple of hours nap under the duvet. Got to about 30 miles out of London and was just thinking, 'Nearly home' when I saw the nightmare message 'Blackwall Tunnel closed southbound' which of course is all you need pre-dawn when you've had your contact lenses in for 24 hours and now have to re-route via Rotherhithe. Anyway, home safe and sound, minus 2 more toenails + have blister the size of Marble Arch on one heel, the tube of Germolene is my close friend at the mo. See you all in Dorset if not before.

I think walking 46 miles was harder than running it probably due to the extra time on your feet and the hours of sliding about in the dark. I am already not saying never again which is a good sign. I may see some of you at The Woldsman.

A bit of a summary with 5 days to go...
We meet at BMW UK VDC Center DN84HT Paddock Lane Thorne. 6am Saturday 20th Feb.

I have been out today for a bit of training and a recce.

Both routes over the moors have been re-routed by English Nature from what i remember after i walked the route in 2010ish. They are both well way marked and we walk both at the best times of day, early morning over Thorne & late arvo over Hatfield. Unfortunatley Crowle moor re-route has dipped at least 2 miles off the route.

Those or any using this as a GPX, bear with me i know the route and i dont mind if using just for a guide.

Stops to be used but not too rigid.
- Thorne Moors 'beware of adders sign' - 3.6mls (removal of early morning gear probs)
- Crowle Cafe Pogs Pies! open 7am - 9.3mls (it looks a bit naff from the outside but i'll take a census if we dare enter!
- Belton Car Park, toilets open Sunday so should be open Saturday - 16.3mls
- Epworth Town center 18.1mls - Full amenities. Co-Op, Cafe's, Pubs, Chippy opens 12pm (may be too late)
- Holy Well, worth a 5 min stop, local oddity - 19.4mls
- Wroot, Cross Keys PH, You will want to stop!!!! Long stretch with one hell of a gun barrel straight road bit! - 28.1mls nice landlord Barry doesnt open untill 4pm but willopen for us if early.
- Sorry ladies i thought there were a few Porta Loos here, Hatfield Moors CP - 31.6mls
Ill take anothe re-ensus here as we can pass The New Inn Stainforth twice after the Jubilee Bridge re-route.
- Either New Inn - 40mls
- Kirk Bramwith church yard - 42mls
- New Inn Stainforth for deffo, on the way back - 45mls. Landlord expecting us if anywhre near closing time.
- Canal Tavern Thorne, even if shut theres outdoor seating - 48.6mls.

I have 15 people now interesting in joining us, including Stuart coming over from Holland! Very welcome all.
I have badges and certs available for £2.00 each. if you wish to purchase one.

I experienced all 4 seasons today. Freezing ground 6am, lovely clear sunny day with a slight northerly breeze most of the day and a snow shower late afternoon. I walked 31ish miles from Thorne to Hatfield Moors CP.

Apologies for the silent-ness I have been re-routing....

I found out recently that the ?Jubilee Bridge? that connects Fishlake and Thorne over The Don is being closed from the 15th Feb for 4 weeks for routine maintenance. This is the bridge we are meant to cross approx. mile 46. Good job I found out early the next bridge is over 6 miles away!

Anyway, me and the dog have been out and found version 3 of the final few miles of The Peatlands Way.

Most stops stay the same, but no visit to Fishlake or Waterside, a bit more of Thorne tho.

We have missed most of the wild weather in this corner of Yorkshire (probably hexed it now!) but be warned it WILL be wet and muddy. Bring spare socks and usual winter walking 50 mile gear.

We do pass some places for provisions but not much, Bring provisions.

Cheers, Aaron. Yes, I'm doing the Marshals, so on the main weekend I'll be at HQ with London and then later on with Kent at Evershot.

Hi Julie, thanks not a problem.

There would be many options in Doncaster that is a short drive down the M18 to Junc 6 Thorne.

There is a Travelodge at the M18/M180 junction (5) but it is rather sparse (motorway services with a Burger King!).

A few options in Thorne itself but not many. Plenty of places to eat/drink etc.

Are all 6 of us Dorset100 entries?

Good question.....

A lot of depends i suppose, but?
I have picked this route because it is a flatish fast route.
I know the area well enough to prob get round with no need for major map work.
We?re starting early enough to finish within a reasonable hour.

If I stick my neck out and say as a group we should have it done (easy) within 15/16ish hrs.
No-one worry tho, we will stay as a group and stop if anyone shouts up, the below was just for guidance.

I am badgering Thorne/Moorends council to find if badges are still available for said route. Very nice they are too.
If I receive a reply I shall happily have them for purchase after the walk for whatever I can get hold of them.

Well I know one very well?. Now don't all shout at me but I could happily put on The Peatlands Way as a ?guerrilla 50?.

Them that don?t know the route that Thorne/Moorends town council used to put on, I can tweak it a bit and turn it into a proper 50. Still be flatish tho. It does show the South Yorks group namesake efficient drainage-work very well.

Be the usual fare for a guerrilla 50 (no support etc). It does go through a few towns and villages en route.

As we have no Poppyline this coming winter, would anyone else like to attempt a Guerrilla 50 with me in Feb 2016? Feel I need a good, simple, flat 50 to kick off the proper long distance walking pre the Dorset100 - anyone interested? Aaron's Carpetbaggers was a great success two years ago... any ideas?
