Hi Jonathan

Walking a near straight-line route between coastal UK points has been done before, including Nicholas Crane's 'Two Degrees West', 2000 (N-S 1 deg plus or minus along the Greenwich meridian, very straight and including off-RofWs), a similar walk on RofWs by Janet Street-Porter in the 90s ('As the Crow Flies', 1998). So the concept isn't new though the route probably is - an addition to (nearly) cross-peninsula walks which include The Two Moors Way and the Camel-Teign (2013 Hundred).

In a couple of weeks time I'm undertaking a long-held intention of walking across the south-west Peninsula isthmus, Charmouth to Bridgewater Bay. I'm not aware of this having been done as a concept before. (I'm also using it as a sponsored event to raise for my workplace.) It's also an opportunity to do something I've fancied for a long time - draw a straight line on the map a just follow every path nearest to it. I'll describe my progress, including it's advisability as a route, in at 1000randompoints.wordpress.com.
