How could you bear to eat the meat pie on its birthday!

Am I sad if I say I occasionally play back the walk in my mind?

I remember the dawn; those bl**dy moorland crossings in the last quarter of the walk; the stiff climb at the end; a great breakfast; the Cheviots; the sadness thereon; that deeply boggy hill we had to climb in the dark that I can't remember the name of; the spectacular array of food at John Sparshatt's checkpoint; the ghostly farm we walked through...

... the applause when I finished ...

Finished the last bit of Northumberland meat pie last night, excellent. Wasn't the weather good back then.
