Yes, completely agree, Tony. Greatly sloppy in places but the sunshine was wonderful and lit up the scenery beautifully. The idea of a central base for food and resources, and offering a series of loops radiating from there is such a good idea. (Perhaps I'll get to the Shap Three Rings this year!).

Weren't we lucky! Friday night's heavy rain stopped just before the off and tonight's forecast rain and gales has only just arrived, leaving us with a bright dry day to enjoy the views in the pleasant undulating area to the West of Kendal.

M,B & B followed their usual cloverleaf system with Crook village hall providing a base for three varied loops which meant that you had the choice of 5,10,15,20 or 25 mile routes. Conditions underfoot (and overfoot too at times) were certainly not dry and the slippery mud made it a good winter test.

We were fed and watered to M,B & B's usual high standard. Many thanks to Lilian, Bob and crew for a great day out.
