Last year I upgraded my Nokia N73 to an N95 8Gb. I also have a small Nokia GPS unit which bluetooth'd to the N73; the N95 has GPS built in.
Nokia have released a FREE piece of software which runs on a whole range of phones and which records routes, speed, ascent etc. It lets you upload the results to a communal website. Here's my (tired) performance from 2 loops of the January Jollies ...

It would not replace by Garmin Fortrex wrist-mounted device, which can tell me where I am and where I might go next. The Nokia measures performance in microsteps. It works well from inside a rucksack pocket. (Garfield)
