Abbesses Way

Shropshire

A pilgrimage route from Wenlock Priory to Shrewsbury Abbey, taking in Wenlock Edge, Kenley, Langley Chapel, Acton Burnell Castle and Church, Pitcham and Berrington, to the River Severn and Atcham. Then along the Severn to Shrewsbury, through the outer city to the Rhea Valley, which is followed to the city centre.

One of the routes promoted by the British Pilgrimage Trust.

UPDATE September 2023:
Earlier in 2023 we were informed of a downed footbridge on the loop of the River Severn near Emstrey, necessitating a diversion onto the B4380. However, there is a variant of the Abbesses Way between Berrington and Shrewsbury (Abbesses' Way Berrington-Shrewsbury ALT route) which omits the river.
