Auckland Way Railway Path

Durham

One of the Durham Railway Paths, using the trackline of dismantled railways, this short and direct multi-user track linking Spennymoor and Bishop Auckland can also be accessed from convenient car parks, Whitworth Road car park, just north of Spennymoor to end at Canney Hill, approximately 1.5 km (1 mile) from Bishop Auckland, where there are two car parks on either side of the ridge, the southern one with linking footpaths to the Brandon-Bishop Auckland Walk.

It passes through countryside which was once part of the Bishop's Park.

The route is marked as a cycleway on Explorer mapping and is easy to follow.
