Dursley's Lantern Way

Gloucestershire

21 km / 13 miles
Dursley's Lantern Way is a circular trail around the Cotswold district of Dursley visiting Dursley, Uley and Coaley. It uses public rights of way to visit a selection of farmland, woodland and country lanes. The name is taken from the Rev Kilvert's diary of 1873 who wrote of a local tradition of couples attending evening services during the winter where the gentlemen pulled out the tails of their shirts and walked before to show the way. These were called Dursley lanterns.
