John Dalton Way

The John Dalton Way was established in 2016 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of John Dalton, the discoverer of atomic theory. It goes from Cockermouth to Seascale and explores some of the lesser walked paths in West Cumbria, visiting the villages of Eaglesfield, Mockerkin, Ennerdale Bridge and Calder Bridge along the way, and passes a number of landmarks related to John Dalton and the development of nuclear power, with the Lake District Fells in view for much of the time.
