Newcastle Way (Staffordshire)

A traverse across the north west of Staffordshire across the Borough of Newcastle under Lyme from Mow Cop to the Shropshire border near Market Drayton, visiting Kidsgrove Bank, Red Street, Black Bank, Madeley, Black Brook and Loggerheads. The idea for such a route originated from a Newcastle Councillor, Nigel Jones. It links the Staffordshire Way at Mow Cop with the Shropshire Union Canal at Market Drayton.

There is varied terrain, from moorland scenery through industrial relics of coal mining, iron furnaces and brick making to farming country and sandstone ridges of Maer and Ashley. A route description is available from the website below.
