A multi-user pan-handle shaped route connecting the two national trails of the South Downs Way and The Ridgeway. However you travel the Three Downs Link you will enjoy mile after mile of open chalk downland, You will cross Watership Down and find yourself going over many iron age hill-forts as you enjoy the superb views from the ridges. The valley sections with rivers, canals and small villages are equally lovely. From Exton in Hampshire the route takes the South Downs Way northeast towards Malborough, turning north and taking a large sweeping circle back towards Newbury before rejoining the outward route to the southeast of Hungerford.
