Walking the Coastline of Shetland - Eastside Way

Shetland Islands

216 km / 134 miles
The Eastside Way stretches from Lerwick, along the eastern seaboard, to Mavis Grind where it links up with the start of both the Westside Way and the Northmavine Trek. It provides a fascinating variety of experiences for the walker who may find it initially quite sheltered as he or she walks north from the busy centre of Lerwick. The island of Bressay protects both Lerwick and its harbour to a certain extent and there are a number of protected voes all the way up the coast. However on a windy day walking, for example on Skaw Taing on Whalsay or Ward of Outrabister on Lunna Ness, can test the hardiest walker and appropriate clothing must be worn. The publication also details a number of circular walks from 2 to 14 miles
