A pilgrimage route between Glasgow and Whithorn Priory in Dumfries and Galloway following wherever possible already established paths and cycleways. This is a walk in the footsteps of past pilgrims to reach St Ninian's shrine, one of Scotland's earliest Christian sites, that brought travellers, traders, pilgrims and royalty to Whithorn for more than 1,000 years.

The route heads south west from Glasgow to reach the Ayshire coast at Irvine and follows the coast path south beyond Girvan to turn inland and along the Water of Luce to reach the undulating country of the Machars peninsula and finally the Whithorn Priory near the southern coast of Dumfries and Galloway.

The trail makes extensive use of the National Cycle Route 7 and the Ayrshire Coastal Path. At other points Scottish Core Paths form the majority of the trail.

There are 12 sections of the walk between Glasgow St Mungo's Cathedral and the Priory in Whithorn. A further section takes in a day's walk from the Priory to St Ninian's Cave and the Isle of Whithorn.
