Suffolk has many excellent hiking trails, many unheard of but all well worth exploring over the course of a day or short walking holiday. This book includes details on five separate long distance hikes covering much of the county. These are: Stour Valley Path (60 Miles) Newmarket to Cattawade along the catchment area and riverbanks of the River Stour leading through pretty villages and the Dedham Vale AONB to the coast. Bury to Clare Walk (19 Miles) Bury St Edmunds to Clare. A walking route through rural countryside linking the historic town of Bury St Edmunds to the historic village of Clare with its Norman Castle overlooking its narrow busy streets. Little Ouse Path (10 Miles) Thetford to Brandon along the towpath linking the two towns. A riverside walk through the unique Breckland landscape. Mid Suffolk Footpath (21 Miles) Hoxne to Stowmarket. A walk along rural farmland from the village where St Edmund was slain to the small town of Stowmarket. St Edmund Way (80 Miles ) Manningtree to Brandon. A pilgrimage that begins slightly into Essex and meanders its way through numerous beautiful historic villages including Long Melford and Lavenham. Notable historic sites include St Stephen's Chapel, St Edmundsbury Cathedral and Thetford Castle.
