AGM reports and final details

Posted on 2018-02-26

There is another booklet associated with the AGM with reports about work done over the last year. Find a copy here 2nd AGM Booklet 2018. This adds to the earlier booklet which had details of the changes to the Articles of Association and the accounts for the year. That is still available here 1st AGM Booklet 2018.

If you are thinking of coming to the AGM weekend, there are a few places left at the hotel. Please book with the hotel and let Bill Fear know if you want to go on any of the walks or the trip to Lincoln. Don't forget that even if you are not staying at the Forest Pines Hotel, you are still welcome to join us on the walks and/or trip. The coach for the A walk will be £5 per person. Packed lunches will be available to order from the hotel (at £5 each).

On the Saturday night, the gala dinner will be a Lincolnshire themed hot fork buffet, which will offer lots of choice for everyone. This is followed by our guest speaker, Phoebe Smith.

Phoebe Smith is an adventurer, author, editor, presenter, speaker and filmmaker. She likes to sleep wild - from caves to mountain tops, disused farmsteads and under giant boulders – if it's in a wild place she wants to take her sleeping bag and bivvy and experience a wild night out.

As in previous years there will be chance to buy LDWA merchandise, but unfortunately no "freecycle" this year. Don't forget your swimmers and leisure kit if you want to use the facilities (free for those staying at the hotel).

After the AGM, there will be a chance to see some of the IT developments with Adam Dawson, and also some more detail about General Data Protection Regulation changes which are coming into force in May this year with Christopher Hedley.

Finally a plea from your Chair, Gail Elrick:

Dear LDWA Member

All good things come to an end…………? We have had a lot of fun and done some good work during our AGM weekends. They have however grown in scale and expectations of those attending the weekend have increased.  Is this why we are unable to recruit a volunteer to organise the AGM in 2019? If no volunteer comes forward by the end of this weekend your new NEC will have no alternative but to look at a very slimmed down AGM, possibly on one day only with limited opportunities for recreational and social interchanges. Without a volunteer to help with the organisation this is probably all that the NEC (all of which already have a full portfolio of work) will realistically be able to achieve.   A new style of AGM may well be a good thing and ideas from our members would be appreciated but at the end of the day, some help is needed.  Full support will be given from the NEC and others (including myself) if the volunteer wants it.

Thank you
