AGM WEEKEND and NEC ELECTIONS 2023
Annual General Meeting
THIS is advanced notice that the LDWA Annual General Meeting will take place at 10am on Sunday 12th March 2023 at the Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel.
To maintain some continuity on the National Executive Committee, each post normally comes up for election every four years, so there is a gradual turnover each year.
Following the completion of current officers' terms, elections for the following posts will take place at the AGM:
We also have outstanding vacancies on the NEC from last year for
We need to fill both of these posts as soon as possible. Ken Falconer is acting as interim Strider Editor for this year but after that there may be no more Strider magazines without a new editor, and Stuart Bain is looking after IT on an interim basis.
If you might be interested in any of these posts, to find out more please contact the current post-holder or any committee member or look at the job description in the Toolkit on the website at https://ldwa.org.uk/library/toolkit.php#NEC
These jobs involve a variety of work, but it is often interesting and rewarding, and is an opportunity for members to put something back into our Association. Again, if you know someone in your group who would make a good LDWA officer, then please encourage them to find out more.
If you wish to be nominated for one of the posts, please reply to this email or contact the General Secretary, Bill Milbourne on 07305182060 who will send you a nomination form which must be returned to him by 10th October 2022.
Any member who wants to raise any motions (ordinary or special resolution) at the AGM should contact Bill Milbourne, such motions must be submitted to The General Secretary by 10th October 2022.
AGM Weekend
The AGM itself is just part of the AGM Weekend, running from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th March 2023 and based at the Mercure Chester Abbotts Well Hotel. The hotel has extensive gardens, a swimming pool, sauna and spa. Historical Chester with its Roman Amphitheatre, medieval halftimbered buildings and charming shops and cafes is a short walk away. There will be a choice of three walks and a trip, probably into Chester, as well as a dinner, quiz and other activities. The cost for the weekend package at the hotel for two nights with dinner, bed and breakfast will be £140 per person sharing a double/twin room and £230 per person single occupancy. Full details and booking forms will be included with December Strider. Alternative accommodation is available elsewhere in the city in different price ranges and there is even a handy caravan site.
