Kirkby Stephen Hostel is a former Methodist church with substantial additions. The old chapel now accommodates a large dining room and kitchens, with a lounge/reading room in the gallery. The bedrooms and dormitories are in a building at the rear, with ample lavatories and showers. In addition to the original stained glass windows, pews, pulpit and organ, the hostel displays over 100 works of art, 15 grandfather clocks, antique furniture and objects of interest. This creates a peaceful country house atmosphere. Kirkby Stephen is a pleasant market town in the upper Eden valley, situated 15 miles from Kendal, 15 miles from Hawes and on Wainwright’s coast to coast path. It also enjoys easy access to Lady Anne’s Walk, the Howgill Hills, the Dales National Park and the Lake District. The hostel stands prominently on the main street, with a range of restaurants, cafes, pubs, fish and chip shops and food shops on the doorstep. PLEASE CONTACT THIS HOSTEL BY PHONE OR POST.
