Blackwater Valley Path

Bracknell Forest, Hampshire, Surrey, Wokingham

This easy and fairly level route following the Blackwater river along the Surrey/Wokingham/Hampshire borders is planned to link eventually to the North Downs Way National Trail at Farnham, and via the Loddon Valley to the Thames between Reading and Henley.

A route of contrasting halves, the river first flows east and north looping through the suburban areas of Aldershot, Farnborough, Frimley and Blackwater to reach Sandhurst, after which it takes a westerley course in much more rural surroundings through a series of flooded gravel pits with interesting birdlife, and then in quiet meadows, sometimes on recent new permissive paths, to reach the confluence with the Loddon.

It crosses the Basingstoke Canal Walk at the aqueduct near Aldershot (SU887513).
