Central Scottish Way

E Dunbartonshire, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Midlothian, N Lanarkshire, Northumberland, Borders, W Lothian

An old route providing a link from Scotland to England across the Scottish Borders. This route commences from the start of the West Highland Way and taking in some of the Glasgow Walkways/Cycleways reaches initially the Union Canal and subsequently the Forth & Clyde Canal to Edinburgh using the towpaths wherever possible. It then strikes south meeting with the Southern Upland Way at Lauder and the Pennine Way via Dere Street at Black Halls just north of Byrness. The Glasgow Walkways which include the Clyde Walkway and Kelvin Walkway (both of which are included on OS mapping) cater for many other links being achieved.

The route's main publication is no longer in print but secondhand copies are still available
