St Wilfrid's Way

Edinburgh, Midlothian, Northumberland, Borders

One of a series of Pilgrimage routes from the 'Way of St. Andrew'. Starting from Hexham Abbey, in Northumberland, the route goes north until it joins Hadrian's Wall for a few miles until it meets the Pennine Way and strikes north. After 30 miles the route meets a Roman Road which is followed nearly all the way to Jedburgh. From Jedburgh it joins the Borders Abbeys Way to Selkirk. Then by tracks it goes north to join the Southern Upland Way west to Innerleithen where it meets a bike track all the way to Peebles. The route then follows hill tracks and bike routes to Rosslyn Chapel and then into the Pentland Hills and along the Waters of Leith to the centre of Edinburgh.
