Seven Shires Way

Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, W Berkshire, Wiltshire

372 km / 231 miles
The Way takes its name from the fact that as it circles the county boundary of Oxfordshire it encroaches into six other counties, thus making up the Seven Shires. The route, which mainly uses public rights of way, passes through a wide variation of countryside including the stone villages of the Cotswolds, the ironstone villages of North Oxfordshire, the marlstone scarp slopes of Warwickshire, the clay Vale of Aylesbury, the beech woods of the Chilterns, the Thames riverbank and the downland of Berkshire.
