Foss Walk

N Yorkshire

The Walk follows footpaths along or near the river Foss, from its confluence with the Ouse in the historic city of York to its source at Pond Head, four miles from Easingwold the finish. The Walk passes through Strensall, Sheriff Hutton, Crayke and Oulston. See Centenary Way (North Yorkshire).

Update November 2022:
A Public Path Diversion Order by North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) to divert part of the Foss Walk away from properties at Burton House (Farm), Yearsley. The effect of the diversion, if formally approved, would be to extinguish two existing Rights of Way (between Grid References SE 45643 47383 and SE 45676 47371, and between SE 45663 47372 and SE 45672 47363) and create two new ones between SE 45643 47383 and SE 45676 47371. The property owner has to complete the new footpath work before the old ones can be closed off. NYCC say that the work is unlikely to be completed before March 2023.
