Blackpool to Bridlington (Aerospace Way)

Lancashire, N Yorkshire, W Yorkshire

238 km / 148 miles
A low-level Coast to Coast route connecting the Lifeboat stations at Blackpool and Bridlington. The walk passes through many of central Lancashire's unspoilt villages among spectacular countryside including the Trough of Bowland, Ribble Valley and the district of Pendle. It then traverses the varied Yorkshire countryside crossing the bleak heather covered moors of West Yorkshire near Ilkley to the flat patchwork quilt of the Vale of York, then through the green rolling wolds of East Yorkshire.

You will find along the route many points of local and historical interest not identified in the book. The reason for this is not only the restricted time and resources available for research, but that the authors hope to pass on the pioneering experience they felt on this walk, compared with the now very well documented Pennine Way and Wainwright's Coast to Coast long distance walks.

An online route description is now available with kind permission of British Aerospace Aerostructures Ltd which has been taken from the now out-of-print publication.
