The Ring of Gullion Way follows the Slieve Gullion ring dyke using a mixture of footpaths, forestry tracks and open hillsides as well as having significant road sections.

The route passes Fathom Mountain, Black Mountain, Slievenabolea, Slieve Gullion and Camlough Mountain. Other highlights on or close to the route include Clontygora Neolithic tomb, Moyry Castle, Craigmore Viaduct with its 18 arches, and the grounds of Derrymore House (National Trust).

Slieve Gullion alternative: this option passes over Slieve Gullion summit (573m), the highest peak in Armagh, with its huge Neolithic burial chamber and views of the Mourne Mountains and Carlingford Lough. See Connected Paths section below.
