Coast to Coast - Snowdonia to the Gower

Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Gwynedd, Neath Port Talbot, Powys, Swansea

348 km / 216 miles
The walk climbs to and crosses the peaks of the Carneddau and the Glyders before dropping down through the Llanberis Pass then up and over Snowdon, the Moelwyns, the Rhinogs, Cadair Idris and the Tarrens before descending into the Dyfi valley and Machynlleth. The route, by then becoming more wild and remote, passes Bwlch Hyddgen, Plynlimon, Rheidol, and enters the Elan valley. The Carmarthen Fan and the Black Mountain are crossed, continuing over the Lliw Hills, passing to the west of Swansea, on to the Gower and the coast path.

UPDATE October 2020 - Work to start upgrading the 150 year old Barmouth Viaduct starts in September 2020. It will affect the route of the path as it goes over the viaduct across the Mawddawch Estuary. During this upgrade the bridge will be closed temporarily on certain dates.
An alternative route is being looked into for walkers on the path and will be posted on this page. If you are planning to walk in this area, we suggest you also follow Network Rail social media for updates.
