Elan Valley Way

Herefordshire, Powys, Shropshire, Worcestershire

The Way is loosely based on the Elan Valley aqueduct which, since 1904, has carried the water supply for Birmingham from the Elan Valley. The route keeps within three miles of the aqueduct as it passes through Cookley, Bewdley, Ludlow, Knighton and Rhayader.
The original route between Button Oak and Cleobury Mortimer, which took a detour south, has now been adjusted. Ramblers working with the local authority have made a new section closer to the pipeline. The LDWA downloads reflect the new definitive ROWs through Malpass Wood which are as yet not marked on the OS mapping.
